Governor Patrick Establishes Special Collaborative Effort to Boost IT
In late January, Governor Patrick convened more than 30 leaders of the IT and Communications sectors, including several members of MassNetComms, to kick off his special initiative to create renewed growth in these two vital sectors. In February, the administration announced the formation of a special steering committee for a new 'IT Collaborative', whose goal is to "organize the voice of the IT industry through the creation of a sustainable, cross-cluster dialogue of stakeholders in business, government, and academia."
Among the MassNetComms members represented on the steering committee are co-chairs Donna Cupelo of Verizon and Paul Bosco of Cisco, as well as Andy Ory of Acme Packet and Cheng Wu of Azuki Systems.
The Collaborative has established an initial set of priority focus areas:
- Communications
- Entrepreneurship, Commercialization, and Capital
- Talent and Workforce Development
- Industry Analysis and Definition
- Business Infrastructure and Ecosystem
- Research Partnerships
- ARRA/Stimulus
- Special Initiatives--e.g., June Convocation
MassNetComms is actively soliciting input on these areas so it can be a consistent contributor to the Collaborative's work. To see other comments, suggestions, and blogs, go to our Community section of the website.
