Technology industry events in Massachusetts: where to find them today

Massachusetts has had a technology trade association calendar since the minicomputer era: the Massachusetts Software Council, the Massachusetts Network Communications Council and the Massachusetts Telecommunications Council all ran breakfast series, award dinners and networking events, and their web calendars were the way to find them. The councils merged over the years; the Mass Technology Leadership Council (MassTLC) is the successor organisation and still runs an events programme.

The main organisers now

MassTLC runs its annual Leadership Awards and topic-based clusters (cybersecurity, robotics, healthcare technology). MassRobotics in the Seaport hosts the robotics community and its annual Robotics Summit. The Massachusetts Life Sciences Center and MassBio cover biotech, which in the Boston area overlaps heavily with software and data. Venture Café at CIC in Cambridge holds a free Thursday gathering that has become the default networking event for the region. Universities add their own: MIT’s Enterprise Forum and the Harvard Innovation Labs run public series.

Conferences

The largest recurring conferences in the area are the HubSpot INBOUND conference, the Boston Cyber Security Summit, ODSC East for data science, and the robotics and life-science shows at the Boston Convention and Exhibition Center. Many national conferences rotate through Boston because of the hotel and academic infrastructure.

Where the listings live

There is no longer a single calendar. Meetup.com carries most user groups (Boston Python, Boston .NET, Boston New Technology, the AI meetups). Eventbrite and Luma carry startup and investor events. MassTLC, MassRobotics and Venture Café keep their own calendars, and the newsletters of BostInno and the Boston Business Journal round up what is coming. For a first orientation, Venture Café on a Thursday evening and one MassTLC cluster meeting cover most of the ground.
